Happy Days

Thanks to advanced preparation, and a twist in my day, I'm sitting on the 5th floor of the library with nothing to do. Shocking, I know, but true nonetheless. I've been told that this semester is down to a whopping 14 days (not to include finals). Why is it that the older you get, the faster time seems to fly? Thinking back to freshman year, the semesters seemed to drag on and on. Now, here I am a Senior, and I feel like I just had my first day of school. Can there really be only two weeks left in the semester? Wasn't it just yesterday that I was a freshman up at BYU-Idaho, feeling lost in a crowd of only 10,000? And now I'm a Senior at BYU feeling at home in a crowd of 33,000. Complacency, it's a wonderful thing.

I've decided there are a few things I still need to do while I'm at BYU, and they are:
1. Visit ALL of the buildings on campus
2. Run to the Y
3. Go to the Bean Museum
4. Get asked out in the Periodical section (jokingly of course)

Well, that's all I can think of at the moment, but feel free to add to the list!

Goodbye Provo, Hello Real World

It's funny how a simple phone call can change the mood of someones day, and the path of someones life. And just today, at 10:02 this morning, I received that simple phone call. The tears of fear, the anxious feeling stuck in the pit of my stomach, and all of those sleepless nights of wonder, can now disappear. The east coast, a place where I was once told I don't fit in, will soon be my home for the next four months. Goodbye college, hello American Diabetes Association. I've finally landed my first internship in Washington D.C.!

Past due

I once was told that when starting a blog there are a few underlying rules to follow, the main one being that you must updated it weekly. In that case, maybe I wasn't meant to be a blogger. I realized I've been neglecting writing blog entries that update all of my five readers, on some form of excitement, newly discovered knowledge, or funny happenings that occur in the life of a college student. So, as I sit on my couch, drinking vitamin water, patiently waiting for the Advil PM to kick in, I begin my past due entry. As the months quickly pass by, and my college days quickly come to an end, I'm realizing I'm quickly beginning to feel lost in each step I take towards my future endeavors. Where do I go after graduation? If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. As of lately, I feel this responsibility as the youngest child to take care of my parents, meaning I'd have to stay in Utah. The first part doesn't seem so bad. My parents have raised me well for the past 22 years, and I will gladly take over taking care of them. But somehow, I need to find a way to get them out of Utah, somewhere near the ocean. And, now that the Advil has kicked in, and my eyes are begging to droop, I'll contemplate where my future will take me. I'll let my dreams of the night carry me away into that fantasy world that seems to take over me each times I close my eyes and lay myself down to sleep. Sweet dreams.

Isn't that interesting...

...I really do belong in California. Seven hours of work in one day is more than I can handle, hence, I do stupid quizzes online to pass the time. Ironic that it tells me to go back to San Diego? I think not!

You Belong in San Diego

Laid back and friendly, you were meant to live most of your life on the beach.
You usually think everything is "all good"... except when the weather dips under 60F.
You stay classy - especially when you're in Tijuana!

Useful tricks

I guess if you have problems with, reading people's mail, slipping on the ice, blood, stains, and ants, the following will be very helpful. I thought they were kind of interesting.

A sealed envelope - Put it in the freezer for a few hours, then slide a
Knife under the flap. The envelope can then be resealed.
(I guess this is useful if you want to open someone's letter and you don't want them to know.)

For icy door steps in freezing temperatures: get warm water and put
Dawn dish washing liquid in it. Pour it all over the steps. They won't
Refreeze. (This might come in handy!)

Crayon marks on walls? This worked wonderfully! A damp rag, dipped
In baking soda. Comes off with little effort. (For when you have children, unless adults have a tendency to write on the walls.)

Blood stains on clothes? Not to worry! Just pour a little hydrogen
Peroxide on a cloth and proceed to wipe off every drop of blood. Works
Every time! (Now, where to put the body?) LOL

Place fabric softener sheets in dresser drawers and your clothes will
Smell freshly washed for weeks to come. You can also do this with towels
And linen .

To easily remove burnt on food from your skillet , simply add a drop or
Two of dish soap and enough water to cover bottom of pan, and bring to
a boil on stove top.

Spray your TUPPERWARE with nonstick cooking spray before pouring
In tomato based sauces and there won't be any stains.

When boiling corn on the cob, add a pinch of sugar to help bring out the
Corn's' natural sweetness

Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half, and rub it on your
Forehead. The throbbing will go away. ( This might have to become a new everyday ritual if it actually works.)

Ants, ants, ants everywhere ..
Well, they are said to never cross a chalk
Line. So, get your chalk out and draw a line on the floor or wherever ants
Tend to march. See for yourself.

Thursdays...ugh

Last semester I didn't like Wednesdays because all I did was work...this semester I don't like Thursdays...all I do is go to school. From 9 in the morning until 8 at night? School has become increasingly overrated. Is there ever a point in life when you actually like every day of the week? I'm still waiting to find out!

Provo's Not So Bad Afterall

I've come to some conclusions after a weekend trip to Rexburg, Idaho:
1)The Rexburg Temple is beautiful (isn't this picture amazing?)
2) Rexburg really is too cold to function, 11 for a high isn't really a high at all.
3) If most of your friends are guys, and they get girlfriends, you've become replaced.
4) Provo's really not so bad afterall.

Rexburg was fun and it was good to see some old friends, but trying to go back to a life you once had in a place you once lived is simply impossible.

Five Minutes of Fame

At last, proof that I was in the oval office has finally arrived. It only took 3 months and a week (but who's really counting) to get this picture. But hey, I gladly waited three months for George's signature.

The beginning of the end

Blogs, they've become the cool thing of 2007 apparently. Everyone has one, and you're left out if your not part of the blogging world. So, just like I joined myspace to increase my "coolness", then upgraded to facebook, I have now becoming a blogger to fit in with the rest of the hip crowd of the 21st century (and to please Liz since she leaves in less than 24 hours and becoming a blogger was my only homework assignment over Christmas break. Typical procrastination, I waited until the last day).

It seems like life is ever changing, but more so lately than usual. School starts in two days, meaning I have two days left to be lazy, a.k.a., I sit on my bed, computer on lap, staring out the window at the snow covered trees, wishing I were back in Florida at the beach where the term winter doesn't include crisp, bitter cold air. But alas, I've been subjected to the greatness of Utah for the last 22 years and will continue to enjoy it for four more short months. Then, the world truly becomes my campus...or playground for that matter. Let's face it, I may be ready to graduate, but I'm definitely not ready to grow up just yet. So, here's to the finale, the beginning of the end of the best four years a college student could have asked for. From, Idaho, to Hawaii, to Provo, college has been one adventure after another, and I expect nothing less from this final semester.
