Rules to being a red head, part 1

I hate to say it, but as a red head, there is one fashion rule that should always be followed.

Never, and I mean NEVER wear red, pink, or orange. And yes, that means your favorite red shirt, pink sweater, and orange shoes should never be worn, and definitely not together. But really, for the sake of looking a little bit fashionable, just don't do it, it looks bad, really really bad.

There is no arguing this fact. I cringe every time I see a red head in one of these colors, these colors just don't work for you. In fact, I kind of feel bad when red heads think they look good in it. You do not. Accept it and move on.

I get that it kind of stinks, there are some really cute red and pink things out there, but that's just the way it is. Life goes on, all the while you'll be looking a million times better thanks to this new found unasked for knowledge. And for that I say, you're welcome.

The only red I've ever owned was my car, and even then I questioned if, as a red head, that was an acceptable thing to do. I decided, it was.

If you posted this rule on Facebook I wonder how many red heads would respond that you're wrong.

I agree with you completely but I see so many girls with red hair wearing pink and red (rarely orange) that I think few of them are aware of how weird it looks with their hair color.

Um...I think we'll just have to agree to disagree ; ). I hope that's okay : )!

i totally disagree--i've seen many a redhead wearing those colors and they looked smashing. i think it's more certain shades that don't work as well. see christina hendricks--she's worn all of those colors and she's stunning.

I do not agree with this. You should check out Kinsey from In Kinsey's Closet and Suze from Miss Vinyl Ahoy those are just two of the other redheaded blog ladies I know of that wear those colors and look fabulous.

I have to ask--did you see the pink dresses in General Conference on the choir women? It was a great pink color, but when you see a redhead in those flowy gowns, you start to second guess the color choice. I have to admit that some color clashes are fun once in a while.

Hahaha! This reminds me of getting ready for dates at BYUI and you telling me "the rules" of red heads. But I think you could pull off anything girl. You wear what you want!

Yeah im not so sure about this. Is it just your rule? Or is this published somewhere. I see a lot of celebrities in movies or on the red carpet that have red hair and are wearing red or pink..I'm sure they have someone who knows what they are doing dressing them. Im sure it doesn't matter either way. People like to express themselves in different ways. You mix patters, and they mix certain colors with their red hair. Does this mean as a blonde I shouldn't wear yellow? hmmm.

Since I'm the one who taught you this rule, I'm going to add my thoughts...most redheads have fair skin (like me even though my hair is now more brownish) & fair skin redheads have to be really careful about the colors they wear. I look horrible in pinks-any shade or tint! Not every celebrity is a natural redhead & many can wear red because their skin coloring will allow it but seriously, I still don't like red on a redhead! Other colors look so much better on them. And just because a redhead wears red, doesn't mean it looks good! I found a little support at these sites:
http://www.sensiblystyled.com/what-colors-can-redheads-wear/
http://www.greatestlook.com/advice/redheads.html LISTEN TO THIS MOTHER - IF YOU ARE A REDHEAD - DON'T WEAR RED try green, blue or brown.

haha any limitations on brunettes? no brown? no tan? I think blue & green are across-the-haircolor-spectrum a good choice. :)
